FAQs
DDA Handrail is non-discriminatory handrail / balustrade system that must be provided on access to all public & commercial buildings where there are stairways and ramps.
DDA Handrails and balustrades can appear in many formats, however there are a number of factors which determine if a handrail is DDA compliant, such as -
Continuous Handrail - DDA Handrails must have a continuous smooth finish with no protruding joints or fittings.
42mm Diameter Handrail Size - DDA Handrails must be 42mm diameter for easy grip.
Not-Cold-to-Touch - Our DDA Handrails are Polyester Powder Coated to meet the ‘not-cold-to-touch’ requirement as stated in regulations.
No.
DDA requirements state that handrails and balustrades should be ‘Not-cold-to-touch’. This requirement is satisfied by our polyester powder coating service.
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) is designed to eliminate discrimination against disabled individuals. This law serves as the backbone for creating inclusive public spaces, ensuring that everyone, regardless of physical or sensory limitations, has equal access to essential facilities.
While the DDA covers a broad spectrum of accessibility features, it emphasises architectural elements that people interact with most frequently. This includes ramps for wheelchair access, lifts with audio and tactile qualities for those with visual or auditory impairments, and handrails.
We can powder coat your DDA Handrail in any standard RAL colour. a range of RAL colours can be seen on ralcolorchart.com
